James Joseph Brown’s fiction, poetry and essays have appeared in The Stockholm Review of Literature, Desert Companion, Santa Fe Literary Review, Hot Metal Bridge, Connotation Press, Red Rock Review, 300 Days of Sun, and other publications. His work in Desert Companion was awarded the 2015 Maggie award for Best Essay by the Western Publishing Association.
He received a Master of Fine Arts degree in Creative Writing from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas where he was the recipient of the 2010 Black Mountain Institute International Travel Fellowship to Lithuania.
A former Peace Corps volunteer, he has taught English and creative writing in Russia, Spain, Korea, Thailand, and Lithuania. He currently works as a freelance writer and English Language Trainer in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia.
